Business News: Conglom cuts 39 positions — A new round of layoffs has hit Comcast Entertainment Group, which confirmed late Wednesday that it had cut 39 positions.
The company said the pink slips repped 3% of its workforce (which totals around 1,350 employees).
Layoffs were spread between Comcast Ent. Group’s networks, online businesses and international divisions. Comcast nets include E! Entertainment Television, Style, G4 and FearNet.
In a statement, Comcast Ent. Group said the staff reductions “better align the company’s overall cost structure and resources in this evolving economic climate.”
Layoffs came the same day word emerged that parent Comcast was looking into acquiring NBC Universal.
