Seeking: Unique types for a new play ‘A MAN’S DIARY’ based on the critically acclaimed book ‘A Man’s Diary’ written by award winning Producer, Artist and Director Lil Louis.

BABY LOUIS: Male, 7–10, black. An innocent, bright, quiet, funny, articulate, inquisitive, active child. PRINCIPAL
YOUNG ADULT LOUIS: black. Male, 13 – 19, black. Young, advanced, active, quirky, athletic, open, well-spoken, dry humor, witty musically inclined teenager. Needs a strong young actor with a sense of gravity, compassion, authority and comic skill. PRINCIPAL

ADULT LOUIS: Male, 21-35, black. Height 5’8- 5’11. Musically inclined, witty, quirky, introverted, athletic, nurturing, intelligent, dry humor, open. Needs a strong, distinctive, engaging character actor with powerful presence and a sense of gravity, range, depth, humility, compassion, authority and comic skill. PRINCIPAL

MS. TAYLOR: Black/Hispanic. 21-31. Intelligent, beautiful, sexy, slim, compassionate, flighty, non-confrontational. Ms. Taylor is Louis’ 7th grade teacher, and teaches him a lasting lesson on love. Need a really beautiful, strong, confident actress. PRINCIPAL.

TAMMY: Black/Hispanic. 16-20. Innocent, trustworthy, stable, secure, insecure, jealous, possessive, suspicious. Tammy starts out as the perfect mate for Louis. But a twist of fate turns her into an opposite character. Needs a strong actress with range, depth, and sensitivity. PRINCIPAL.

RHONDA: Black/Hispanic. 18-27. Insecure, creative, flirtatious, manipulative, suspicious, low self-esteem. Rhonda is insecure about her looks, brought on by her abusive mother. Needs a strong actress with range, depth, and sensitivity. PRINCIPAL.

MAKINI: Black/Hispanic. 20-28. Malicious, flirtatious, vindictive, passive-aggressive, Louis’ fourth grade girlfriend. Quiet, standoffish, with diva qualities. Sybil has had a rough childhood and is an outcast. Shy, insincere, coy. Needs a strong actress with formidable presence. PRINCIPAL

AMBER: Black/Hispanic. 21-27. Pretty. Sociable, at times. Two-faced. Split-personality (Gemini) Extremely jealous and insecure. Controlling, Arrogant. Defensive, vindictive, manipulative. Needs an actress with range. PRINCIPAL

MAMA: Black. 21-50. Beautiful. Southern. Pro-black. Afrocentric. Natural. Nurturing. Strong. Independent. Intelligent. Spiritual. Mama is the center of Louis’ life. A guiding force throughout the play for Louis. Needs a strong, distinctive, engaging, sweet character actor with powerful presence PRINCIPAL
