Casting It Was a Setup!
It Was a Setup is part of Inverse Theater’s 2010 season.
Writer: Kirk Bromley (Inverse Theater Website)
Choreographer: Leah Schrager (Leah’s Website)
Inverse Theater is looking for one male dancer, one female dancer, one male actor and one female actor for its newest production, a dance/theater piece called It Was a Setup, to appear (pending acceptance) in FringeNYC in August 13-29 2010. If we aren’t accepted in the festival, other production arrangements will be made. Dancers should be comfortable speaking some onstage and actors comfortable moving. Inverse Theater has won three Excellence Awards in past FringeNYC shows, “Best Downtown Theater Company” (2001) from The NY Press, and a NY Innovative Theatre Caffe Cino Award. We are an innovative, experimental downtown theater company looking for people interested in working on a challenging and exciting show.
This will be an Actor’s Equity Showcase, so pay is $100. Sorry we can’t pay more. We will be making a good video recording and submitting to other venues.
Exploring issues of loneliness, bliss, love, rage and idolization, the text, movement, and images are a mix of dream, tantrum, desperation, revenge fantasy and story infestation.
Rehearsals will be once a week April thru June and 2-3x week mid-July to the opening date.
Please send the following via email:
1. Resume -
2. Headshot -
3. Links to any dance work samples you have online -
4. A brief paragraph on who you are, your dance/theater training, and why you are interested in this project -
We will be seeing dancers by appointment for a workshop/audition.
